Brazil tops new ventures survey
Brazil has been ranked No. 1 in a confidential poll of oil companies that rates their level of interest in new ventures. The poll, conducted by Robertson Research International for the past 13 years, is based on responses from 94 companies which, collectively, account for about 70% of worldwide upstream spending. Brazil has enjoyed a remarkable rise in the esteem of the oil companies; it was ranked No. 43 in the 1994 poll. Other highly rated countries were Australia 2; Iran and U.K 3; Indonesia 4; Libya 5; Algeria and Iraq 6; Angola 7; Argentina 8; Egypt and Gabon 9; Venezuela 10.
