Integration of Geological, Geophysical, and Engineering data: The Quest for the Ultimate Reservoir Model

"Data integration remains one of the most important challenges in modeling petroleum reservoirs. This week-long Forum focuses on the integration of geological, geophysical, and engineering data with emphasis on reservoir modeling. Existing and emerging technologies will be reviewed and discussed in the Forum, and special emphasis will be placed on case histories that highlight issues such as capturing and managing uncertainty, reducing the cycle time and the impact on reservoir management."

DATE AND VENUE:
24-29 June 2001 in Taos, New Mexico

FORUM TOPICS:

  • Rock Physics
  • Upscaling and Downscaling
  • Stochastic Modeling Methods
  • Seismic History Matching
  • Quantifying, Managing, and Reducing Uncertainty
  • Reducing the Cycle Time - Rapid Updating of Numerical Earth Models
  • Emerging Technologies in Reservoir Modeling
  • Visualization

MEETING FORMAT:
The meeting will comprise a mixture of poster and oral presentations. Posters will be displayed all week and will allow additional opportunity for focussed discussion amongst small groups. As in previous years, the poster sessions start with a short introduction using two view graphs. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend all posters during formal sessions. Oral presentations will complement the poster sessions and will include keynote speakers for each major topic. Experience of previous D&P Forums is that discussion sessions are lively and wide-ranging: the proportion of delegates that actively participate is very high.

ACCEPTANCE:
Direct participation of all Forum attendees is strongly encouraged. Participation may be through poster or oral presentation or discussion contributions. Although neither oral nor poster presentations are a requirement in order to be accepted for registration, if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of the conference facilities then preference will be given to presenters.

ABSTRACTS:
There are no formal proceedings from the Forum. In an effort to encourage candour, presentations are made in an "off the record" spirit. However, participants are welcome to distribute expanded abstracts of their own presentations if they choose.

DUE DATES:
Deadline for submitting an application is 16 March. Applications can be mailed or faxed. Final registration information will be mailed to applicants in April and must be returned with payment by 13 May.
